Why Does My Gold Fish Only Seem To Eat My Pond Lilly And Algae?

We got three goldfish from a local breeder and they wouldn't eat pellets, flake etc. We assumed this was because the bigger fish in that pond got to the food first. They would only forage round in the plants and algae etc. We then got a shubunkin and Koi who came up for food straight away. Two of the goldfish will now come up to feed but the third one just will not. He isn'tscared of the other fish and often looks like he will go for food, only to turn away at the last second. Help please?

We have pellets in two sizes - larger for the koi and shebunkin and pellets for the smaller fish.  We also add flakes and it just won't bite! I have noticed that it swims towards the food then does a swerve at the last minute.  I have taken the lilly out to try to force him to eat the food, but it isn't having an effect.  He seems healthy enough and has lovely colour.  It just seems odd.  I guess he is a loner who likes to do his own thing!

Try breaking the pellets up they may be to big but gold fish love the allergy and they love plants the more the better.that is cool that you can put them in a pond as it illegal here to that.why i don't know?? Good luck and if he still won't eat go get some flakes so he don't go hungry.
