My gas water heater is turned up all the way, but the water doesn't seem hot enough. Is there a dirty line or jet somewhere?

First make sure that the problem is the water heater. Test the water temp from the spigot on the heater. If OK at the heater but not in the shower, try insulating the pipes. If you are sure that the gas is on and at the highest setting you might try checking the thermostat. Turn the gas down and wait about 1 hour. Turn the gas up to the highest setting and make sure the flame increases. Observe the flame and make sure is stays high. If not it might be a bad thermostat. You may need a good cleaning. I don't understand; that's your answer to this question and problem? Don't do what herself?-- Try to understand the problem? Attempt a routine repair? Rely on her own brain? What an unhelpful answer.
