What Is A 'Series'?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A series is a number of things that follow on from each other, such as a book series, television series or film series.

A Book series usually consists of six or seven books, all continuing on from where the previous book left off.

A television series, if successful, will carry on into what is known as a new 'season', after a gap of usually around six months to a year. Some may even last longer. The 'Im Alan Partridge' series in the UK had a five year gap between season 1 and 2, for example. When a television series is released on DVD, it will usually be labelled by the season number, to help customers know which order to purchase them in.

A film series works the same as books. There can be up to a six year gap between some series of films. The Terminator trilogy, for example, had over a five year gap between each film.
