Murcia is a province aproximatley an hours drive south of Alicante on the south west corner of Spain.  The largest salt water lagoon in europe is here - called the Mar Menor - which is split from the Med by a thin stip of land called La Manga - or the sleeve.  The area has its own airport - Murcia San Javier - which is expanding but still small in comparrison to others - which is on the beach of the Mar Menor.  Murcia city is inland - about 50 mins drive from the airport and closest coast line.  It has fantastic shopping!  And alsomagnificent cathedrals, churches and real Spanish culture.  As it is an inland city and surrounded by a ring of mountains it gets very hot in the summer.  A charming area with its own wine producing regions, renowned for its fruit and vegetables (which are exported all over europe), home of La Manga golf club - a 5 star hotel and golf resort, and rapidly becoming a real hot spot for investors.  A new aiport slightly inland at Corvera along with large development companies - like Plairs - are rapidly changing this area and investment by both the home Spanish market and other europeans is being hevily commited.
