Are There Any Bad Hotels On The Red Sea In Egypt?

Well, I definitely know of one and there are probably others. The area around the west coast of the Red Sea is massively under development at the moment as the tourist industry there booms. Some of the standards are a bit dicey.

One hotel to avoid is the Hilton Long Beach in Hurghada. This is one of the Hilton chain of hotels that are supposed to be good but, judging by this one, they are losing it.

The hotel was very overcrowded and noisy with few bars and places to sit outside in the daytime or the evening. Staff in the hotel were offhand and rude ~ very unlike any other part of Egypt, where the people are so lovely and cannot do enough.

Several people were walking round looking ill and holding their stomachs and we soon found out why ~ the food was terrible. Kept lukewarm, it was mostly inedible. Badly cooked, stodgey and really not like other hotels in the area.

Don't go to the Hilton Long Beach, not matter how good it looks in the brochure.
