They will send you a letter stating how much and the reason they took your taxes and the balance on whatever it was they took them for. My husband owed back taxes a couple of years ago, we had just gotten married, was only married like 4 months and they took mine. They said I could file some "SPOUSAL" Form to get it back, but I said no point, we would just go through it again next year, might as well get it over with.
