How Likely Is It For A 7 Mo. Old Female Mastiff To Get Pregnant During First Heat Cycle?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is definitely possible for a dog to become pregnant on their first heat cycle.  It is advisable to wait until the second or third heat cycle.  At 7 months your dog is still considered a puppy and is not full grown herself.  If you do not breed her during this time keep her away from unneutered males and do not leave her in the yard unattended.

It is my hope that my 6 mo old male mastiff has not gotten to her. I have separated them and did not see any encounters by the time I discovered she was coming in. I hope he had not figured things out. I spend a lot of time with them but I do have to work and I hope nothing happened during that time. Thanks!

You will have a pregnant puppy. You're suppose to keep her away from unfix male until she is mature enough to be pregnant.
