What Happens In 40 Below Weather?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In most cases, minus 40 degrees has been hailed as some sort of a benchmark which is set for cold weather. Another interesting fact to know is that -40 degrees is actually the same temperature if you consider either the Fahrenheit or Celsius scales.

Also, you might want to note that water droplets don't simply form ice once the temperature drops to about 32 degrees Fahrenheit (that is, 0 degrees Celsius). Microscopic droplets have the ability to stay in liquid form even when the temperature falls below 40 degrees.

It is also typically at air temperatures which are below 40 degrees that contrails form. Contrails are artificial clouds, which are essential the condensation trails which are seen left behind by jet aeroplanes
