How Can I Succeed As A Distance Learner?

          It is not easy being a distance learner. It is much easier to study on campus with other students all studying the same subject. Distance learning can be lonely and it is easy to lose momentum.

          Sometimes, however, our life situation does not allow us to pursue full-time education at university. It is here where distance learning is useful.

         The first important thing is to work out how much work you need to do every week in order to meet the deadline. This can be as simple as working out how many assignments you have to complete before the deadline and dividing that by the number of weeks before the deadline.

          Then you need to work hard to achieve the necessary amount every week. If you leave everything to two weeks before the deadline you will not have time to do it. Work out the pace and stick to it.

           Next, take advantage of any opportunity to communicate with others on the course. Many distance learning providers have email forums for the use of students. Use them! Ask questions, even though they seem stupid, there will usually be someone who can help. And help others when they ask questions. With a small effort you can create a small community of friends who can help one another.
