    Wetlands as the name implies are regions where the saturation of soil by water is the dominant factor of the physical environment and the effect this has on the development and types of plant and animals. They are areas that see a blend of the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. However, wetlands all over the world differ from region to region due to differences in climate, soil, animal life, water composition and human activity.

    As per the Clean Water Act in America, wetlands are described as "those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps, marshes, bogs and similar areas"

    Wetlands are commonly found in parts of the United States and United Kingdom.
