    If you are considering burning calories through swimming then I would suggest you to first learn proper swimming. Until and unless you do not know how to swim you will not burn calories properly. This has been researched by experts and they believe if swimming is not done in the right way, it will not help in burning calories.

    Reason being it will tone the muscles however it will not burn fat if it is not done correctly. Professional swimmers do tend to burn a lot of calories, since they have taken proper swimming training. It a study it was proven that professional swimmers burn more than 25 percent fat as compared to professional runners.

    Normal swimmers or beginners just use more muscles during swimming. However if one is serious and does at least 25 laps a day properly then definitely he or she can lose weight as swimming is known for toning up the body. You will have to push your self and the more effort you make during swimming, the better results you will get. Learn all the swimming techniques from a trainer and burn more calories.

    If you enjoy working out in the water, then do not give it up. You can even try water aerobics while you are at it. Involve your friends also and you will enjoy it more along with burn calories.
