My son says to just walk away and they will chase you. I think this is rude. What do you think? Peace

Bargaining is used as a tool by shopkeepers in most part of the world. Mostly the shopkeepers will tell you the price twice high from the original price.

First you should have fair idea of the price of a product then you can negotiate for it. For example, if the shopkeeper is selling a product for $100. Tell the shopkeeper that you can only give $40 for it and not more than this. Now the shopkeeper will try to bargain. He will say that I can give you this on $90. With more discussion, he probably will offer you the product on $75. Then you can take a step ahead and say that you can't give more than $50. Now if the shopkeeper does not want you to go, he will say OK. Give me $50.

Your son is right. Some shopkeepers would call you back for two reasons. To negotiate further by telling you the good characteristics of the product or even call you to give your desired price for the product.
