Is Disciplining Employees Important Or Does It Just Cause Hard Feelings?

When employees are disciplined it may very well cause hard feelings, but that is not a primary concern of management if the disciplining has taken place in an acceptable form. People are often upset when they are told that something that have become accustomed to doing is wrong. Perhaps it is their attitude or the physical activity that is taking place, which leads to a supervisor taking disciplinary measures.

It is definitely an essential part of the management process and helps to serve as a warning to deter future problems. As long as it takes place in a private setting with only the manager and subordinate then there should be no reason for legitimate hard feelings.
