A person who wants to be a good environmental scientist should have the desire to clean the environment in order to make life safer for people, plants, and animals and make the environment pollution free. The person should have a good understanding of either one or more of the science branches that is biology, chemistry, toxicology etc.
If they have expertise in either one of the branches of science they will use it to come up with solutions to the environmental problems in collaboration with other environmental scientists and work hard to prevent future contamination. That is why it is important for an environmental scientist to be a good team player as he will be working in a team fighting for the same cause. Also the person should have good communication skills in order to communicate well with others.
An environmental scientist should have interest in working outdoors and must be ready for extensive traveling. This type of work will require the person to collect samples from the contaminated environment for tests and further studies. These samples cane be taken from the soil, animals, vegetation or water. After testing and studying they must come up with solutions for clearing the pollution. Thus a person should have good computer skills as well as all workings will be done on a computer.
The person should have a thorough understanding of all the laws and regulations of the environment in order to abide by the laws.
