Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Psychoactive herbs are basically used to make drugs and they show their effect by acting on the central nervous system and from here they alter the brain activity to achieve the desired result like change in mood, perception etc and their effect is only temporary. They do not affect blood rather they affect the neurochemistry of the person and each herb has is own different affect. I the nervous system there are neurotransmitters that transmit stimulus from the body to the brain and that is how we feel different things. Some of the psychoactives called the antagonists reduce the stimuli that the neurotransmitters send to the brain thus reducing the perception of pain or stress etc. Another form of psychactives is the agonists that increase the perception by multiplying the stimuli that are sent to the brain. These herbs do not affect the blood but take action through the brain. Their excessive use can result in an addiction. They do not affect the body but instead affect how we perceive the various stimuli.
