Why Can't Parents Let Go Of Their Kids?

Answer Question

Depends on how old your are.  Most are happy to let go when they know you are coping well on your own and know you will call them if you have a problem.

Feel it all depends on how old your are, what you want to do, and who you will be with. Most mums are firm - but flexible. The more reliable you get the easier it is to let you take on further responsibility. Unfortunately, the world is not what it used to be. I used to cycle miles through forests and moors on my own at 12 - nowadays I would be lucky to go a mile away at the same age.

Have you asked to join a youth club or say girl guides - that way you get to be with friends but you mum will know you are in a safe environment. Good luck x

Its hard for parents to let go of their kids, is because of the love they have for them.

        Because they're too damn afraid.
But they need to let the world beat us up a little coz sooner or later, they won't be there to help us/be there for us.

But there are also other parents that are dependent on their children. They're afraid that if they let go of their kids, they won't have someone to be there for them too.
