Who Is Billy Sheehan?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Billy Sheehan born on March 19th, 1953, is a famous US bass guitarist, quiet popular for his works with Talas, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr Big and Niacin.

Sheehan has bagged the Guitar Player magazine's "Best Rock Bass Player" reader poll five times. The magazine preferred and liked his soloing on the four-string guitar more than Eddie Van Halen's on the six string guitar. Sheehan's range comprises of chording, two-handed tapping and controlled feedback.

Sheehan is also acclaimed as a steady "true" bassist, filling the conventional supportive role of the electric bass guitar in the rock dialect. Billy's first ever instrument was an acoustic guitar which he had borrowed from his sister. His first ever electric bass was a Hangstrom FB bass, which was quickly shifted to a Precision bass similar to Tim Bogert's.
