Although governments, specially governments of underdeveloped or developing countries are highly encouraging and welcoming to foreign investment and foreign companies, though, there is still an element of resistance that is encumbering some of the governments to whole-heartedly accept and welcome foreign investments, which is not a very good sign for foreign companies. The techniques that foreign companies incorporate to eschew the prospect of negative government influence or expropriation are inclusive of three techniques namely integrative techniques, protective techniques and defensive techniques.

The integrative technique, given by its literary comprehension, is the technique that helps the foreign company become a part of the host country's corporate infrastructure. Here the objective is to basically develop a perception about the company that is less foreign and ergo a least probable target for government intervention.

As for protective and defensive techniques, these type of techniques, in contrast to the integrative techniques, discourage the idea of being integrated in the local country's business infrastructure. Moreover they discourage any sort of government involvement in their operations.
