Is It True That Eating Wholegrain Foods Can Lower The Risk Of Gum Disease?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yes, it is thought that eating whole grain foods really does cut the risk down of developing gum disease, as well as being healthy for the heart and preventing you from developing diabetes. Foods such as brown rice and dark breads have been shown to lower a person's chance of gum disease by at least twenty per cent.

Other food and drink which help to prevent gum disease include grapefruit and red wine. So, if you have a diet rich in whole grain, you drink a glass of red wine a day, and you eat grapefruit regularly, you should have a significantly lower chance of developing gum disease. This is great news as gum disease can potentially lead to heart problems due to the throat being closely connected to the heart. There will always be foods which claim to reduce the risk of gum disease so the best thing you can possibly do is just eat a healthy diet. That way you should prevent a lot of illnesses and diseases anyway.
