How Did Virginia Get Its Name?
I need to know how it got its name for a state project for my history class.

Virginia was named after Queen Elizabeth 1 of England (1533-1603) who never married and was known as the "virgin queen."

It is also thought that it was named by queen Elizabeth the first and meant the newly claimed virgin land in 1584....hope this helps
