I would not place any object you have warmed on your dog's nose. This is not a method normally used to treat lesions in dogs. To apply a warm compress to any part of the body you can use a warm wash cloth. Be very careful applying a heating pad to a dog--you need to have a thick towel layer between the heating pad and the dog--heating pad burns are very severe.
Also at this point it is unknown what we are treating. If this swelling due to an allergic reaction? infection? trauma? A veterinarian will help diagnose the problem and provide appropriate treatment. Knowing what you are treating often saves time, money, and discomfort for your dog.
If you think this is an allergic reaction to an insect bite for example you can try Benadryl at a dose of 1 milligram per pound of body weight given by mouth 2-3 times a day. Do NOT use the Cold and Sinus variety--only plain Benadryl is safe.

Well I had this problem with my dog as well earlier and I tried a simple method that will save you the charges of going to a vet. What you have to do is take a solid object it should be a rectangular shape and not that big.Encompass it with a soft material and then heat it up.Be careful as not to heat it up too much but just enough. Now go on and press the material you have used and the object on the nose and hold it there for a couple of seconds.Keep repeating this procedure and the swelling will eventually decrease. If it does not go away contact a vet immediately so that it does not turn into something serious.
