How Do I Take Care Of My Horse's Swollen Hind Leg?

To many unanswered questions here. Have the boosters been kept up to date? What kind or fence was it, wooden or barbed wire? To reduce the swelling horse with cold water but if the cuts are only minor, why is the leg swelling? Has a ligament been torn or a muscle damaged? Perhaps a joint has been sprained.
