Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Stromstad Municipality basically is a Swedish municipality located in Vastra Gotaland County, towards the western Sweden. Stromstad is situated on the Norwegian border and it is famous for attracting huge number of shoppers from Norway.

Initially it was a territory of Bohuslan, where Stromstad is located, belonged to Norway until the year 1658, when Sweden conquered it through warfare.

Earlier at Stromstad, there was a tiny fishing village which was known as Strommen. The settlement received many privileges as a merchant town, because of which it developed and expanded, this was also one of the main reasons that it received a Charter in the year 1676 by King Charles IX of Sweden.

Between 1716 -1718 the total population of this region was around three hundred but later on shot up to 1,100 by the year 1805, because of the budding of the fishing industry.
