    I Have A Budgie That Is A Month Old, And Has Splayed Legs, Is It Possible To Clip His Wings So He Won't Try And Fly?

    You don't clip the feathers clear out on the tips of the wings, leave about 4 of them untouched, and for the others, clip them short of the 1/2 way point on the feather, this should prove tricky, but it can be done. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

      Remember to look for blood feathers before you clip the wings. If there is still blood in the shaft of the father then it is a blood father and if clipped it can cause serious blood loss. The shaft should be clear like the feathers you see at the bottom of the cage during a molt. I usually clip all the flight feathers I have had a few be able to fly pretty well when I only clipped a few feathers.

      THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWER TOO. I'M GONNA HAVE TO CHECK HIM OUT REAL GOOD BEFORE I CLIP.. I DO MY COCKATIELS WINGS. BUT MY BUDGIE IS SO LITTLE AND I JUST GOT HIM ON AUGUST 20TH 08, SO I'M STILL AFRAID, I GUESS TO BECAUSE HE HAS SPLAYED LEGGED..
