How Do I Teach My ESL Students How To Access The Internet In The Simplest Of Terms?

Answer Question

First tell them how the internet works. Something like:

"This computer and many other computers can all be linked together by the internet. Information can be given to other people far away very quickly by posting it online. Today, I will show you how to go online."

Show them the ethernet cord, and the DSL modem box. Explain how information and data travels back and forth to and from the computer.

"First, you turn on the computer

(I'm taking for granted that they know how to do this)

When you log on, you click on the internet symbol. This takes you to the home page. Then, this bar up here is the address bar. You type the name of the site you want to go there, hit Enter, and it takes you there."

(Don't tell them about typing www because that is dead technology. Every web browser automatically does that for you.)

You should teach them to access internet step by step. First you should teach them to turn on the computer. Then you must teach to click on the internet connection and then click on the "dial or connect to internet button".Afterwards you can teach them how to open Search Engines like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox etc.
