It is said that dogs in spring are often more prone to pollen allergies than dogs who aren't. However, it is possible for all dogs to have pollen allergies. Some owners do not even realise that their dogs have a pollen allergy as they think that the symptoms are caused by something else.
One of the main symptoms of a pollen allergy includes constant itching. This makes the dog itch, sometimes in one place but often all over the body. The constant scratching can make it look like the dog has parasites and in the summer months that is a complete possibility too. So you have to check the dog regularly to see if the problem is parasites or if it is down to a pollen allergy. A problem which can occur if the dog does constantly scratch is a secondary skin infection. So it really does need to be sorted out straight away. Other symptoms of a pollen allergy include wheezing and coughing and sometimes nasal discharge also occurs.
