This Question Is Answered:
What Do I Do About A Landlord Who Will Not Make Repairs That Are Needed?
I have been 5 days without heat. I have 2 small children. When our heat ran out we discovered that our oil tank was leaking and immediately contacted our landlord. He had a professional confirm the leak and was also told of electrical problems with our heating unit. He had the later fixed but does not want to install a new tank at this time. He wants to take the cheap way out and have someone appoxi the tank to see if it will fix the leak. I am worried about a spill or worse, an explosion!

Contact a lawyer and have him set up an escrow acct. Your rent money will go in there and the landlord will not receive any of it until repairs are made. Perfectly legal and within your rights as a tenant.
