Where Is The Khao National Park?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Khao National Park is in Thailand, about 160 km north east of Bankok. It is a mountainous area of forest and grassland and has a tropical climate with a hot dry spring season, hot, wet summers and mild winters.

It covers an area of 2168 square kilometres and features forest and grassland bounded by steep rocky mountains – this creates some spectacular water falls. There are also some calmer, rolling hills and the area is one of outstanding natural beauty.

The national park is well known for its population of gaurs, Asian elephants and fairy bluebirds, all of which are very rare species. Gaur are a type of wild cattle that live in forests with large open glads. They survive only in scattered herds in parts of India and south east Asia. The park houses one of the largest surviving populations. Other mammals in the park include civets, gibbons and tigers.
