How Many People Finish School In China?

Most of the schools in China are state funded public schools. China has more than 70000 private schools which range from preliminary to higher secondary. These schools are attended by more than 14 million students.

School reforms started in China since 1985. Children between the age of 3 and 6 go to kindergarten school. After kindergarten, the schooling system is divided into primary school, secondary school and university level education. Despite China's attempt to educate people, 27 percent of the country is illiterate. This means out of every 100 students, generally 73 students finish their schooling.  It is a far cry from the 80 percent illiteracy rate which was rampant in China during the 1940s.
