The actual clock time in this particular zone is determined by the mean solar time of the ninetieth degree meridian to the west of the Greenwich Observatory.

In regions like the USA as well as Canada, this particular time zone is generally referred to as CT or Central Time. The central time zone falls one hour in advance of the Mountain Time Zone and falls one hour back from the Eastern Time Zone.
