Many slaves became prisoners and worked on farms owned by former slave owners in the south before that time prisons were only in the east and prisoners were mostly white what are the the numbers

    I have never seen a statistic on that.  However, if you could estimate the percentage of black soldiers in the US Army, the percentage of prisoners should be the highest estimate.
