        They are kept in orbit by the force gravity. Also, as you know, for every force, there is an equal and opposite force, so they are alo pushed out so they dont hit the planet. So the moons are held in by half pushing and half pulling

        Its the gravity of jupiter keeps them there. Actually because jupiter spins so fast and the moons are so large that its creating a drag  to slow down jupiter's spin and because the force is changing the orbits of the moons and are slowly moving away
