We take communion to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and our sins. The Wine, in most faiths is a symbol of his blood and unleavened bread is a symbol of his body. In my Catholic faith we believe in the true presence of Jesus in the Wine and bread.
If you are not a Christian then it will be a little hard for you to understand. This is our way of saying Thank you Lord for saving me through your death on the cross, burial and resurrection.
Do you believe in God? Do you know about the Trinity? God the father, God the son and God the Holy spirit? 3 beings in one.
Kind of like grapes? The seed, the fruit, and the skin. The skin encompasses the whole fruit, holds it together along with the juices..... God. ... The fruit itself gives its life and juice so we can be nourished by it ...Jesus the son, who gave his life and shed his Blood, so we could be reconciled to God the father.... The seeds are left so the life of grapes can continue.... The Holy Spirit... Jesus left as our caregiver and comforter and intercessor.
Once we acknowledge our sinfulness to God and ask him to forgive us for sinning against him ...We then ask Jesus to live in our hearts and be the center of our lives... The Holy Spirit leads us and intercedes for us when we pray. We then follow Jesus in Believers Baptism. This is a symbol of our dying with Christ, being buried with Christ and raising to new life in Christ. Our Original sin is washed away and we become new Creatures or Creations in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit . We continue this Journey by taking communion with a Community of Believers or The Church.
It all comes back to our Faith and trust in Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior and doing our best to live according to His will.
The choice is yours. What will it be? Who will it be? I will be praying for you...Nanny
