You can get rid of junk emails by following a simple strategy. Basically, emails can be categorized into four groups- Personal emails, genuine business emails, subscriptions approved by you, unknowingly approved subscriptions, spam and virus mail.

You need to take care of only the last three groups and you drastically reduce the number of junk emails.

Before you enter your email on anything on the internet, always read the page thoroughly you are at for any additional information. Make sure you are getting only what you wish to receive. There are some semi-hidden features in some free email services that you will need to look for in order to change the desired setting. Many "settings" come preset to "accept" and thus you must deselect them so that you are not receiving them.

Most emails and newsletters include a unsubscribe link, near the bottom of the email itself. Most of these you only need to click and follow simple instructions for removal. Many email services now include a "block feature", that will allow you to block email from any email address. Yahoo's email for instance, allows you to block up to 100 email addresses. Yahoo email provides spam filters that deliver suspected spam to your bulk mail folder.
