    The Parc Abbey Bible was made sometime in the middle of the 12th century. The colophon or details on the production of the book indicate that the codex was produced in 1148.

    The Parc Abbey Bible, which is an illuminated bible, was made in Belgium in the Leuven region. It was made at the Abbey of St. Mary of Parc. It is of great significance and importance to the history of illuminated miniatures, and to the church. The text, which is written in the proto-gothic book script, on vellum, which is a kind of parchment, was Latin.

    The parchment of the manuscript is illuminated with diagrams, miniatures, decorated borders, and decorated initials. Inhabited, historiated and foliate initials are included in the decorated initials.The Bible which was purchased by the British Library in 1844, is now maintained in three volumes.
