Why Is A Diamond Hard?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Diamond is one of the hardest material in the world because it can resist an extremely high amount of pressure and it can also withstand permanent deformation of pressure and it can also withstand permanent deformation. The bond between the atoms of a diamond is very strong. It is this density of the atomic structure of a diamond and the strength of the bonds between the atoms of a diamond that make the diamond the hardest-known substance in the world. There is a rigid network of bonds within the diamond crystal. Diamonds have a high melting point. According to researchers at the Argonne National Laboratory of the United States Department of Energy, diamond, which is the hardest material in the world, has been combined with carbon nanotubes, which is the strongest structural form in the world. They are combined to explore the possibility of using this combination to a number of applications related to energy.
