In strict sense there are 37 countries in Asia....as there is no definitive physical map there can be more.

**The Pacific Island Countries include:
American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Federated States of Midway Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guam, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Pitcairn Islands, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, & Vanuatu.

If you tallied these countries up you would get 53, but there is no definitive border around Asia. Does that sound about right? Or have I missed any?
