It is not normal for a tropical fish to have swollen abdomen. Is it showing other symptoms like lethargy, and loss of appetite? If you are noting these signs then it is Dropsy that is caused by viruses or bacteria. This disease when attacks, people often think that their fish is pregnant but this is not the case. If you are lucky enough and have caught the disease in its early stage before it reach the kidneys then this disease is curable otherwise this disease can kill the fish. There are many anti dropsy medicines available in pet stores. This disease is not highly contagious.
