Butterflies have a huge variety of predators, given that they are one of the more gracefully and less vicious creatures out there. Some of these predators include ants, parasitic flies, birds, wasps, snakes, rats, toads, lizards and even monkeys in some areas of the word.

According to their predators, some butterflies taste better than others. Hence, a butterfly that tastes good is generally consumed by animals, or predators, like snakes, birds and lizards. However, kinds of butterflies that taste bad will be shunned by predators due to the fact that they taste unpleasant.

There is a reason why some butterflies taste bad, however. This is because the butterflies that are known to be less desirable to predators are also know to exude a number of toxins that are able to sicken the predators. Ironically, the butterflies that taste bad are actually the butterflies which are more attractive and more brightly coloured. It seems, however, that bright colours in animals have become a sign for predators to steer clear, because of a taste or a poison that could harm them.

This has been learned over generations, when animals have eaten the brightly coloured butterflies, only to realise that the taste is awful and the substances are potentially harmful to the predator’s health.

Butterflies are not predators themselves, and are at the bottom of the food chain. They are often easy targets for predators, as long as they can be quick enough to catch them before they fly away. They’re also incredibly fascinating creatures, given that they actually start life as a caterpillar. They actually change over a period of time from one creature, to another, through a transformation in its cocoon. For more information about butterflies, simply Google search them or go on Wikipedia. There is a great deal of information that is easily accessible.

Butterflies have a variety of predators like ants, wasps, parasitic flies, wasps, birds, snakes, toads, rats, lizards and monkeys. Butterflies are either good tasting or bad tasting; funny as it seems; this is the best way one can categorise them from the viewpoint of their predators.

A butterfly which tastes good is usually consumed by predators like lizards, snakes and birds. A bad tasting butterfly is shunned away by predators due to its peculiarly bad taste. Bad tasting butterflies are known to exude toxins that sicken the predators. The ironical thing is bad tasting butterflies look colourful and attractive. So after consuming a bad tasting butterfly, the predator understands that it should refrain from killing any of the 'colourful-winged' butterflies the next time around. In other words, one bad tasting butterfly ends up sacrificing itself for the good of many other counterparts.

Butterflies eat nectar, pollen, minerals (from dirt, rotting fruit, even sweat), water. And yes, sometimes dung, too.

A bird eats an butterfly
A butterfly eats pollens from different kinds of flowers
The habitat of a butterfly is around the flowers
And how they attract to where they live is that without flowers around them they can't get the pollen out of it and without the pollen they can't live for a long time bacause it their food.
