Will A Vitamin Affect The Growth Of A Plant?

When my grandmother was in the hospital at the end of her life, the nurses still insisted on her taking vitamins. She would put them between her cheek and her gum and then swallow the water... Haha... When the nurses left she'd take them out of her mouth and shove them into the dirt of the potted plant beside her bed. The plant survived with these vitamins in it's soil for about 3 weeks but then CROAKED... :-)
