Hey yo...
My brother Mark died of a salivary gland cancer (adenoid cystic carcinoma of the right parotid--the salivary gland under the right ear). Salivary gland cancer is a RARE CANCER and EXTREMELY TOUGH to treat. My brother had very good insurance through his employer and received the best treatment money could at the time--2003/2004. Even though he DID receive the very best treatment--he was treated at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, one of the TWO TOP cancer treatment centers in the United States--in reality, HE NEVER STOOD A CHANCE. Everything I've read about salivary gland cancer, ESPECIALLY salivary gland cancer under the tongue, indicates that this type of cancer is, as I said, EXTREMELY TOUGH to fight and--no matter what they might want to tell you--almost ALWAYS FATAL--especially your Mom's cancer--it's even worse than my brother's. I don't want to rain on your parade; but it's true. Check it out with an oncologist. Pain management will be a top priority.
