If Your A Cowboy In The Woods And You Find A New Born Calf And Momma Has No Milk! What Do You Do?
Come on Vet people, now your a Cowboy, on horse back! How do you save the calf? You don't have very long, and the calf has been licked dry, but knows how to suck! So some time has passed by! Plus the after birth is gone! And cattle have several bellies, and this slows down digestion.

I'm not a vet but I would get the calf back to the ranch, find a large bottle and nipple, and start feeding it right away.

Well in the woods, you pick up the calf, and momma WILL follow! You put the calf across your lap in the saddle, and go to the back to the barn area and lots of shade OUT OF THE HEAT.
Then think the calf is clean and dry, and the after birth is gone, too! And momma wasn't standing beside the calf, so a lot of time has passed by. And you know the calf only has hours for it has never eaten anything.
It is sucking, but milk has to sour before it can be digested, and give the calf it's nourishment that it desperately needs, and cattle have several stomachs slowing down that process. So that puts milk on the back shelf, for you running out of time fast!
So you go to the barn and get the POWERED GATORADE and make up some a little strong, and bottle-feed the calf with it!
Gatorade has electrolytes so it gets to the calf's system with in minutes! Calf saved!
Then you go get one of the cows that will let others suck and bring her to hold up with her calf and feed her up for two!
Now you spray paint the dry cows neck, so you'll know her for her trip to the Market!
And the other cow will get feed enough for two!
