What Do I Do If My Lip Piercing Is Infected?

Oh for God's sake! Listerine and Bactine? Try just using salt water and tea tree oil 2 - 3 times a day and using ice and ibuprofen for the pain and swelling, it's not rocket science and your piercer should have told you all this. Clean the outside and the inside with different cotton balls, put a drop of tea tree oil on the outside, leave for a minute and wash off and dry with a clean tissue. The breadstick wouldn't have affected it because it is a very new piercing and will be swollen and painful for a while, keep it clean and use instructions above or don't bother having any piercings in the future if you don't know how to take care of them properly.

Just keep it clean as much as possible! It will take a while and it's gonna be hard especially on the lip. Everytime you eat or drink...I'd clean it...got a spray bottle?

Use a warm sea salt water rinse like you would mouthwash swish it on the inside of your mouth on the piercing and wet a paper towel not a wash cloth or cloth towel of any sort as they can harbor bacteria and press it to the outside of the piercing it will draw out any infection you may have and do not remove the piercing as this can cause an abscess that will have to be lanced (cut open to release pus and infection) because the holes will close up and the infection will remain with no way to ex-spell the infection.sea salt is available at every grocery store by the way do not use regular salt sea salt is more effective

Its normal for your lip to be swollen on the third day just keep it clean and you should be fine...mine was most swollen on the fifth day.
