How Does A Hard Drive Work.?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Small electromagnetic heads travel up and down a spinning metal disk. If a 1 is to be recorded on the disk, electricity is run through a head, magnetizing the disk in its' immediate vicinity. This process is repeated thousands of times to record files. To remove a 1, electricity is run backwards through the head while it is over the 1, and the net result is a 0.
