The Battle of Lexington, also known as the Battle of the Hemp Bales was fought in the Lafayette County in Missouri in the United States of America. The battle lasted only for a week, meaning, the battle began on September 13, 1861 and ended on September 20, 1861. The Battle of Lexington was also a part of the American Civil War.

Historically we are told there were two Battles of Lexington, the one fought in 1861 ended in a week's time. The second battle headed by Major General Sterling Price was also fought in Lafayette County, on October 19, 1861.

Also worth a mention is the third battle with the same name the Battle of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1864. This was fought in Massachusetts, USA.
