Directed by Peter Jackson, Heavely Creatures tells the story of two teenage girls, Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme, in 1950s New Zealand.

The two girls meet when Juliet transfers to Pauline's school. They are drawn together by the fantasy world that they create together, and become close friends. Eventually, the girls become lovers and continue seeing each other when their parents forbid it.

The girls end up murdering Pauline's mother so that they can continue seeing each other. Their crime is discovered and both girls are sent to prison.

The film is based on the true story of the Palker-Hulme murder in Christchurch, New Zealand. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and also featured the first film appearances of Kate Winslet (Juliet Hulme) and Melanie Lynskey (Pauline Parker).

The film has also been featured in a number of international film festivals and received very favourable reviews worldwide.
