A football goalpost is eight yards apart, there are two posts erected in an upright position, they stand apart at a distance of 8 yards with no tape or bar across them. This is according to the official laws of the game created by Football Association in the year 1863. The law also states that the maximum ground length has to be around 200 yards and the maximum breadth of the ground has to be 100 yards. After a goal being scored by a team the opposite team gets to kick off the game.
