A Mixed Economy basically has the features of capitalism and socialism. It has a degree of private economic freedom which is complemented by centralized economic planning and regulations of the government. Some of the means of production are state owned and managed whereas some others are privately owned and run.
The origin of this term dates back to 1930 after the end of war. It is a cross of free market and planned economy. In fact it brings together the benefits of both.
