Why Has Blurtit Become An Online Dating Site For Teenagers?

Blurtit's main purpose is to impart knowledge by means of person to person instead of a search engine. With that stated, it would seem atrocious to abuse it in such a way as a "dating site". However, with social networking websites, people can interact with many others across the world and know much about them before you even speak to them. Not only is it a Q&A site but a site where friends can be obtained. It is much more convenient and easier than 'real-life' encounters. Some whom have lost hope in such personal encounters turn to sites such as this one for love or otherwise. I have met my girlfriend(whom I now live with)on this site so it is not a trivial waste of time. Most social networks sites have and will experience "hook-ups" for a long time as it is leisurely and enjoyable to interact with many different people.

Any on- line sites leads to being a dating site. The teenagers now a days don't go out and socialize there always on the computer, they also have less adult supervision.

Same reasons myspace, facebook and other social networking has... The parents are not watching them.... When i was a kid i was out all day unless it was raining and the kids these days could use more time in the fresh air...

What can we say people are HOT on here.

Hey David - remember when you were a teenager - you looked everywhere possible.  In my day it was the youth club but they don't seem to have many now!

And people may live hundreds of miles apart- so how is that gonna work?  Lot of trouble can happen doing that too- you never know who is on the other side of the computer

Probably because most Blurtit users are youngsters and they become friends here and they start exchanging their thoughts with there like minded friends here.

To be honest i am 14 years old and i think that talking to someone on the computer that you dont no in real life is extremely dangerous.. Especially as people my age are quite vulnerable. However i also think that people should be able to make friends safely and experience different cultures because some people may not be able to afford to travel around the world.
And i think trying to look for boyfriends or girlfriends over the internet is not the safest way to go about it, i think these kinds of sites should be used to help others and learn from others experiences. X

Well because kids here arent taking blurtit seriously they are taking it as a joke they dnt know what blurtit really is and what it is all about

Teenagers think that they can ask out anyone on the site without actually recognizing their habits,
hobbies, etc..

Because teenagers out there are desperate to be SOMETHING to be noticed. And they must get in on EVERYTHING .Thus, we/they are here and dating is just a thing that comes along with it. Its part of culture and it's everywhere.
