The westernmost country on the Scandinavian Peninsula is Norway. It lies in northwestern Europe. The west coast of Norway is bordered totally by the Norwegian Sea, and the country shares its borders with both Finland and Sweden.

Bouvet Island which lies in the South Atlantic Ocean and Peter I Island which lies in the South Pacific Ocean are also external dependencies, however these two are not considered part of the Kingdom.
Norway also has claims to Queen Maud Land in Antarctica. Norway has established the Troll permanent research station in Queen Maud Land in the Antarctica.
In Norway there are large seasonal changes in daylight.The daylight phenomenon in Norway is quite interesting. As the sun in the summers may never go below the horizon in areas north of the Arctic Circle. Because of this phenomenon Norway is known as the "Land of the Midnight Sun." Also, during Summer, people living in the south of the Arctic Circle usually experience sunlight for almost 20 hours out of the total twenty-four hours.
